ChatGPT is an advanced language model developed by Open AI that has taken the internet by storm. It is capable of providing contextual responses to questions, eliminating the need to sift through multiple webpages to find answers.
Google and Facebook have attempted similar technology before, but ChatGPT has surpassed them. Microsoft has invested an impressive $10 billion into ChatGPT, which has caused Google to declare a “code red” event.
It is clear that ChatGPT is an innovation that is here to stay.
I have been using ChatGPT for several months and it’s amazing, but scary for some people.
As an owner/manager, you make your money and life based on “Change”. And you need to be efficient!
- Brainstorming ideas
- You can create a job ad for a Landscape Technician, Sales Person, Designer, etc. that will take you 30 seconds to complete.
- It is really good at summarizing content and complex processes
- It is good at creating articles, content and outlines. It will replace actual positions like a Content Writer
- Translating text from one language to another
- Compiling research and drafting marketing content
Potential Uses of AI or ChatGTP:
1. Customer Service – Chat Box use. This will replace people for simple frequently asked questions
2. Generate personalized sales pitches/sales content and product recommendations for your Blog posts and email marketing.
3. It can write 80% of your new Policy & Procedure Manual/Company Handbook/Job Descriptions. You will need to personalize it for your company.
4. It can generate “Calls to action” and create outlines
There are limitations:
1. AI is not smart/intelligent. It has good base level content.
2. In my experience, it did not know who Nathan Helder was. Clearly, I am not as popular/famous as I thought in the Open AI world. It also does not generate personal information.
3. It cannot pick who is the “best landscape company in Waterdown”. It won’t give current data.
4. It won’t give you real time information. The program will not give you the weather, schedule or set appointments.
5. ChatGTP does not provide an understanding of natural language, and thus requires that users interact with the bot using structured language.
6. ChatGTP is limited to text-based interactions and does not support audio, video, or other forms of multimedia
Even with its limitations, ChatGTP will eliminate positions. It will make it difficult to teach high school or college. A lot of teachers are sounding the alarms. I wished I had this tool in High School. 
This technology is going to help the small business owner especially when time is a limited. This will allow owners and managers to be far more efficient with their time. You can provide a higher level of service on the social media side.
Many landscape and home contractors run their service side of the business like a Swiss Watch and have struggled to get the “office” in line. (Health & Safety, HR, Systems, Processes). Their offices are usually a disaster.
